i've seen these guys for years in new york and its all just bullshit. they need "cordiality" to be enforced by the social backdrop, to force other people to humor them. none of them have got any depth, they're just cerebral extremists. they go around with their drinks and their banter and none of them tie any of it to harm in any real way, even something as clearly harmful as alcohol. they just go with press outlets, politicians, big business, online personalities, pre-existing groups etc. if they're far left today, it's because of big business, and their parents fearfulness. they're the kind of people who will just rationalize any action at all, based on things like false equivalences, and they don't even see shallow points like that let alone anything actually deep.
